1. My liquid petroleum gas supplier keeps raising rates for service. Does the PUCN approve those rates?
The PUCN has jurisdiction to regulate the rates of some, but not all, liquid petroleum gas systems. Systems regulated by the PUCN must, for example, include certain kinds of physical infrastructure and serve at least 10 contiguous customers. Systems with less than 10 customers in Nevada are not rate regulated.
However, systems that serve less than 10 customers are regulated for health and safety purposes by the Nevada Board for the Regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, a separate state agency that can be contacted at (775) 687-4890. Additional information about the Nevada Board for the Regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas can be found on that agency’s website, www.nvlpgasboard.com.
2. Is my apartment complex permitted to supply me with and bill me for liquid petroleum gas?
Yes. The PUCN does not regulate any liquefied petroleum gas distribution centers in Nevada. The Nevada Board for the Regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas regulates providers of liquefied petroleum gas for the purpose of health and safety, and can provide more information about applicable requirements in this situation. Contact the Nevada Board for the Regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas at (775) 687-4890 or visit www.nvlpgasboard.com for more information.
